The National Kinmen Institute of Technology was promoted and renamed as National Quemoy University (NQU) in 2010. At the celebration ceremony, Terry Gou, the founder and chairman of Foxconn (Hon Hai) Technology Group, suggested the establishment of the Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) as IE plays a very important role in Foxconn. After that, the University formed a preparatory committee, which was directed by Dr. Jacob Chen, the General Manager of Corporate Industrial Engineering and Chief Business Controller of Foxconn and the Dean of Foxconn IE Academy as well as the former President Dr. Chin-Cheng Lee. The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management has been approved by the Ministry of Education and begun enrolling students in the year of 2012.
The Department currently offers a bachelor’s degree program. The curriculum includes two main modules: Management Science and Applications of Electronic and Information Technology. Our students can learn about the operational and strategic levels of industrial engineering as well as engineering management throughout the curriculum.
Through solid training in the area of industrial engineering, our students are equiped with professional knowledge for research, data analysis, industrial-engineering tool application, management and information technologies in order to meet the needs of different industries. They are also provided with problem-solving and communicative competencies for their future careers.
